A note on dating: the BNF catalogue lists this manuscript as dating from the early seventeenth century, except for the last folio, which is deteriorated, but potentially corresponds with the date of 850 AH (1446) given in the manuscript. The suggestion given in the catalogue is that the final folio is a page of the original source manuscript, dating from the 15th century (and possibly a direct copy of Ahmed-i Mısrî's original), while the rest of the text represents a early seventeenth-century copy of missing remainder.

The opening of the manuscript includes a dedication to Sultan Murad II (1421-1451/824-855), for whom Ahmed-i Mısrî's original was composed. The manuscript also includes the date of 'the first day of Safar 533' (8 October 1138), which the catalogue hypothesises may correspond with a date for the (now lost) Arabic origin text of the Forty Viziers, from which Ahmed-i Mısrî's work derives.
