Versions

From The Seven Sages of Rome
The versions of the Seven Sages/Book of Sindbad listed below reflect the different textual groupings as designated by scholarship. They are differentiated in the first instance by their embedded stories, and the order in which they appear. Each of the largest versions therefore represent (often multilingual) narrative families, that share key structural elements. Those large versions may then contain within them many sub-versions, smaller groups designated by textual variance, or by language, or both. Within language groups for smaller sub-versions, still further groupings or textual relationships may be represented, if existing scholarship on that tradition has typically relied on such designations.
There are 130 versions in the database.
