Note
"Historia" does not clearly stand out as an independent text from the "Gesta Romanorum" (see Roth 2004, p.82).
The story >Virgilius< is shortened as follows: Octanianus regnauit diues ualde qui aurum super omnia cupiebat ut prius paruit ibi de turri et ymaginibus et procedas cum illo usque ad sensum misticum (321v). The story appears then later in the "Gesta Romanorum" (332r-v) (see Roth 2004, p.82, 164).
