Building the Database
Our original project brief was to capture a complete picture of the transmission of the Seven Sages of Rome/Book of Sindbad narrative before 1600. As we progressed, we observed an unbroken pattern of transmission beyond that date, and so while the early textual tradition has remained our priority, we have also entered information on later manuscripts and print editions when readily available.To populate the Seven Sages of Rome Database with this information, we have relied on existing secondary research material.
