Note on dating: Lewis claims this text is from 'about 1590' (1929, p. 50). The information from the National Library of Wales simply indicates that the manuscript, which it titles 'Rhyddiaith', dates from between 1575 and 1800; the scribe Llywelyn Sion lived between roughly 1540 and 1615, however, so presumably a late 16th-century date for this text is appropriate.
