Note

Lewis notes that the usual name of the third master, Bankarrios/Painkaros rather than Lentulus, is an anomaly shared with NLW Cardiff MS 3.4 (RMWL Cardiff MS 5), The Book of Elis Gruffydd. Whether than suggests a relationship between the two texts (e.g., Cardiff MS 3.4/ MS 5 as a source for Llanstephan 117?) is not discussed (Lewis (1925, 1958, 1967), p. 29).

In his description of this manuscript, Lewis notes that this text is 'mostly illegible' and 'incomplete' - both the narrative and the manuscript cut off abruptly part of the way through the Senescalcus story (Lewis 1925, 1958, 1967) (p. 29). This seems to be borne out by Evan's description of the explicit: 'ef a erchis y medic iddo geisio gwraic yn wely ac ynte aechis yw ystiwart logi rwraic iddo ir ic pvnt ac yn yr ystiward a naeth o chwant yda' [He asked the physician to get a woman for him in bed, and he asked the steward to hire a woman for him for one pound, and the steward did so out of desire...] (Evans 1903, p. 579). (Examination of the digitised manuscript, linked above, appears to confirm this as well.)

See Evans (1903), pp. 568-579 for more details.
