The 'Continental Group w' is a branch of the Gesta Romanorum tradition (designation by Röll 1986, pp. 215-217). In some of the manuscripts, excerpts of the Historia appear as part of the Gesta Romanorum.

The Continental Group w contains the most manuscripts from the Excerpts: 124. The number of stories and which ones are included varies but >Medicus<, >Amatores< and >Vaticinium< / >Amici< are missing in all of them (see Roth 2004, pp. 111-132).

Not included in the database are

  • Halle Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Qu. Cod. 111, 161ra-161vb, 1481 which only includes a splitted version of "Virgilius" (see Hal in the chart, Roth 2004, p. 122-123, footnote 188)
  • München Universitätsbibliothek 4° Cod. ms. 805, 93vb-94rb, around 1400 which only includes stories "Arbor", "Senescalus/Roma" and "Sapientes", and no frame narrative (see Mü13 in the chart, Roth 2004, p. 126-127)
  • Praha Národní knihovna České republiky Ms. VIII. C. 14, 22vb-23vb, 15th century which only includes an incomplete opening frame narrative (see Pr10 in the chart, Roth 2004, p. 128-129)
